Sacrament of
James 5: 14-15
“Is any among you sick? Let him call for the presbyters of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.”
The sacrament of Anointing of the sick has in its purpose the conferral of a special grace on the Christian experiencing the difficulties inherent in conditions of grave illness or old age.
It is the sacrament of the anointing of the sick with oil and laying on hands by which God’s grace is bestowed for the healing of spirit, mind and body.
Ministry to the sick through the anointing of the oil may be requested through the Cathedral Services Office. If needed, the administration of the Eucharist is also available.
